On arrival, transfer to your hotel to relax ahead of your safari adventure. Macushla House offers a quiet oasis about 18 kilometres from central Nairobi in the suburb of Karen. Breakfasts are delicious, the staff are friendly, they have great local knowledge and are happy to help with ordering taxis and arranging tours. The whole vibe is unpretentious and relaxed, and when it comes to the garden and the cool stone veranda – well, you could spend hours there enjoying a cup of tea, or a glass of wine in the company of monkeys and exotic birds.

A swimming pool provides relief during the warmer months, and vervet monkeys are known to swing from the branches around the hotel walls. While Macushla doesn’t provide many activities, it’s conveniently located a short drive from the Giraffe Centre, the Karen Blixen Museum, Nairobi National Park and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

After breakfast, transfer to Wilson Airport for your schedule flight to Mount Kenya Safari Club. The Mount Kenya Safari Club. In the foothills of Mount Kenya, with the equator running through the grounds, this exclusive hotel was once the retreat of a Hollywood movie star. There’s a relaxed and refined atmosphere here, with a pool for taking it easy and afternoon tea served on the lawn terrace. Optional activities this afternoon include nature walks with a wildlife ranger and playing rounds of golf across the equator on a 9-hole golf course.

Day 3:
After breakfast, leave with a packed lunch on an extended morning game drive to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. One of only four private game conservancies to have been founded in Kenya, the sanctuary is the only place in Kenya where the endangered chimpanzee can be seen. It also houses the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, where you can see the world’s three remaining northern white rhino.

After your Sumptous Breakfast, fly out on your Schedule Flight to Lake Elementaita. This sapphire-blue soda lake of is one of the Eastern Rift Valley lakes, lying between Naivasha and Nakuru. The 48,000-acre Soysambu conservancy on the west of the lake covers two thirds of its shoreline and is East Africa’s only nesting site for the great white pelican. In total, the conservancy protects over 450 bird species. Rothschild giraffe also breed here, and other wildlife includes eland, warthog and zebra. The conservancy is home to the exclusive Lake Elementeita Serena Camp. Intimate and classic, the camp sits in gardens dotted with acacia trees that lead down to the lake. Spacious ‘tents’ are more like small houses, sitting on stone platforms with a wooden front door, glass windows and canvas roof. All are traditionally furnished with a nod to safaris of old and feature a four-poster bed. There’s the option this afternoon to take a boat ride or relax at the camp.

Day 5:
After breakfast, hop into your 4x4 Safari Landcruiser and head to Lake Nakuru National Park, which offers one of the best chances to see rhino as well as migratory birds. Enjoy full day game drives and take in the views from the park’s viewpoints, you will enjoy your packed lunches from the Babboon Cliff.

Transfer to Loldia airstrip for your flight to the Musiara airstrip in the Maasai Mara. On landing in the Maasai Mara, you’ll spot wildlife from the outset. This corner of the reserve is so exceptionally wildlife-rich that it attracts the makers of wildlife documentaries and programmes including the BBC’s Big Cat Diary and Planet Earth Live. This is where you’ll stay for two nights, in one of the much-loved Governors’ camps. Lunch will be served before heading out to do your Afternoon Game Drives will late evening before you return to camp for your Sumptous Dinner.

Day 7:
This morning there’s the opportunity for a hot-air balloon ride (At an extra cost) over the plains at sunrise. Governors’ balloon safari could just be the most beautiful balloon flight in the world. And wherever you land, a Champagne breakfast will be laid out for you to enjoy. It’s one of the most iconic experiences in Kenya – we recommend pre-booking. Afterwards, head out on further game drives in the Mara, discovering more about the lives of its resident big cats and other wildlife

After breakfast, you will be transferred to your local airstrip for your schedule flight to Nairobi, Wilson Airport. Chack in at Fairmont the Norfolk for your day room. Later on transfer to JKIA for your international flight.
